Under Eye Concealer Tutorial

Ahhhh. What would I give to have bright-looking eyes without the dark circles that make me look older and tired? With a house full of boys, I blame it on the lack of sleep and an endless list of chores. Although I feel tired, fortunately, I don’t have to look tired. Concealers can be your best friend or your worst enemy, depending on how it’s applied. Here are some tips to get that flawless looking coverage you’ve been looking for.

  1. Select the correct shade of concealer. You would want to select a shade that is around two shades lighter than your skin. A good trick is to test covering up a vein and see how natural the coverage looks.
  2. Use color correctors. For under-eye circles that have too much discoloration, you will need to balance the skin’s pigment first. Choosing the proper color corrector depends on the shade of your under-eye circles. Green counteracts red tones. Reddish or yellow color correctors neutralizes purplish-blue hues. It might be trial and error before finding the best one.
  3. Proper application. It is best to apply the color correct first, then foundation, and lastly, the concealer. When applying the concealer, it should be done by using a concealer brush or your fingers in a dabbing motion. Start by drawing a triangle with the base under your eye and the point toward your cheek. Blend from the inner corners of the eyes, including the sides of the nose, and work your way out. Continue to blend the concealer into the foundation for a seamless look.
  4. Set it with powder. This step sets the look and minimizes creasing. Use the setting powder sparingly. Nothing is worse than having your wrinkles enhanced. A non-drying, lightweight concealer will also minimize creasing.
  5. Blot. Remove any excess concealer or powder by blotting to prevent it from settling into your wrinkles. This step can also be done midday to remove oiliness to keep the eye area looking fresh.

There you go. These are just my two cents on concealing those unwanted dark under-eye circles. Let me know how it worked out for you!
